World Mental Health Day 2024 was celebrated on October 10 at Seon Ashram (R.), Gandibagilu, with the aim of raising awareness about mental health and challenging the misconceptions surrounding mental illness. The program was presided over by Mrs. Mary U.P., Trustee Member of Seon Ashram, and graced by Mr. Haridas S.M., President of Red Cross Society, Belthangadi Branch, who highlighted the global significance of this day in promoting mental well-being. He emphasized the urgent need for collective efforts to destigmatize mental illness and foster a more understanding and supportive society.
Mr. Shivakumar B.S., a dedicated activist, lauded Seon Ashram’s compassionate work in providing care and guidance to those battling mental health challenges. Mrs. Sandya Subhash, Manager of Seon Ashram, eloquently shared the purpose behind World Mental Health Day, reminding everyone of the importance of mental well-being. The Chief Medical Officer of the Ashram, Mr. Shivananda Swamy, provided an insightful overview of the various causes, types, symptoms, and potential treatments for mental illnesses, encouraging proactive care and understanding.
Adding a celebratory touch, carrom competitions were organized for the residents of Seon Ashram, bringing joy and fostering community spirit. Mr. Subhash U.P., Trustee Member, along with other dignitaries, joined the Ashram residents Raju and Jayanthi on stage to award the winners. The event saw active participation from the Ashram’s governing body, staff, and residents, with sweets generously distributed by the Red Cross Society.
The program was skillfully narrated by Ms. Sindhu V.M., a dedicated staff member of the Ashram, bringing the event to life with her heartfelt presentation.
